EARTHROUNDERS RUSSIA 2014
BULLETIN N° 2
September 17, 2013
Topics: Visa, Changes in Program, Costs, Fly in
Visa:Preparation may take some time. My recommendation is to start mid-october. Probably most of you will need an invitation letter. Please send a copy of your passport to Natasha Puring at: firstname.lastname@example.org . For different countries, issue of invitation letter may take some time. We will be doing it via a travel agency. So, in invitations the purpose of your visits will be indicated as tourism. Period: 25 April – 15 May, single entry. If you need a multiple visa or extra days, please indicate to Natasha. With an invitation letter you will be able to apply for visa in your country Russian Consulate.
Changes in the Program:Please pay attention - there are changes in the Program. Main one – we plan only Saint Petersburg. Intention was to show more of Russia, but in one day: travel to and back and visit places in Moscow was too optimistic. Virtually impossible. I tried to do it practically myself. Traffic and distances are too big. . If you decide to take opportunity and still visit Moscow, I’d suggest then to do it before Saint Petersburg’s meeting. 9th of May is the Victory Day. In Moscow, starting probably from 6th of May, there will be a lot of preparation for military parade, with Red Square most probably closed for tourists.
Please indicate your intention to visit Moscow and we will recommend you a travel agency in Moscow.
So we will concentrate on Saint Petersburg. Our host vessel will be moored right in the center of the city, walking distances from the major attractions of it. And I assure you there are plenty to see.
We do not change the time for discussions on board. Official – in the mornings, unofficial, warmed up by the wine (or vodka) – in the evenings.
Costs. There 100 cabins on the vessel. They can be arranged as double or twin, as you will wish. All inclusive (full day catering) price per day is US$ 85 for single occupancy and US$ 100 for 2 guests. It does not include the sightseeing organized tours, museum and theaters tickets.
Fly in. Most difficult part. Negotiations with Pulkovo are in progress. Two, or even three, main issues. Parking space, duration of stay, costs. Obviously no avgas 100LL.
Cost of handlers is outrageous. Without them, costs seems more or less affordable, latest changes in tariffs applicable from this August 28th. They still arguing on basic tariff, have not confirmed yet the possibility to accommodate 15 planes for 5 days, but at least we keep talking. More details I will send to the participants who expressed or will express their wish to fly in.
As an option, an airport in Finland – EFLP. Lappeenranta is just 200 km from Saint Petersburg and has a regular bus and train communication with the later.
Contacts. Until you come on board you will be taken care by Natasha. Don’t hesitate to ask any information from her. I’ll have it in copy and answer anything she might have a difficulty to answer.
So, when ready, please:
